REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Please answer each required field.

2.  You must be at least 18-years old to register without a guardian.  

3.  For priority processing your request to find an ancestor, you must have information on at least one great-grand-father.  You will be providing this information during the enrollment process.  But you will need either your grandmother's or grandfather's father's Birth Date & Location OR Death Date & Location.  If you have don't have this information, you can continue to register; but our volunteers will need to consult with you before enrollment. 

4. During enrollment, you will need to provide name and residence information for your certificate.  This information can be changed before production of your digital certificate.  However, the information you provide at registration will be used to generate your encrypted MyFreedmenTree-ID.

5. For identity verification and to assist other descendants with their search for ancestors, at enrollment you will need to provide your birth state and county.  Once your ancestor(s) are verified; to complete the My Freedmen Tree process, you will be required to verify your identity. 

6. If you would like be identified by a government ID, you can have it added to your unique My Freedmen Tree encryption ID.  But this information is optional.

7. Please send us any questions or comments you have about the registration process.  We value your voice.

8. Within 5-business days; your unique encrypted My Freedmen Tree ID will be emailed to you.

9. Within 5-business days; a link will be emailed to you for enrollment.
